Brave Little Pancreas was born from one of the most challenging—and revealing—chapters of my life.

When my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 13 months old, I found myself wide awake at 2 a.m., dialing the on-call nurse with questions I hoped made sense. Every snack, meal, and drink suddenly required a new layer of planning. I couldn’t just leave her with anyone. Family members thought they knew what to do because they “had diabetes” (spoiler alert: they had type 2.). My anxiety and need to be in control skyrocketed after her diagnosis. When I FINALLY felt comfortable leaving her with someone, I left very detailed instructions and showed them exactly how to give her insulin. Often, steps were missed or just blatantly ignored. When she started daycare at 3 years old, I scoured the internet for the best resources possible on how to explain type 1 diabetes to a caregiver. What I did find was very limited and didn’t live up to my standards. I wanted tools that were practical—and—kid-friendly, but as the emotional and logistical weight of T1D set in, everything I found felt clinical or overwhelming.

So I created my own.

I hand-designed school survival kits, caregiver cheat-sheets, and gentle tracking tools—not as professional educators or clinicians might, but as a tired mom, searching for clarity in chaos. Each product was infused with compassion, clarity, and a hope that others wouldn’t feel as alone—or as terrified—as I did in those early months.

If there’s one thing I learned, it’s this: a child’s ‘little pancreas’ may not work perfectly, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t endlessly brave. Brave Little Pancreas is here to remind families of that courage—in the blood sugar spikes, the alarms, and the 3 a.m. lows.

My daughter is now almost 6 years old, and I still get overwhelmed at the decisions I have to make for her diabetes. But after I created the caregiver kit, I felt a little bit of relief.

Our mission is simple:

  • Empower kids to feel seen, safe, and confident at school.

  • Give parents easy-to-use tools that foster calm and control.

  • Build a community where no caregiver has to feel isolated—or fragile—when managing T1D.
